....and SOON IN THIS PAGE:
Storyline is set (as usually does) in the Earth, a similar Earth where a sort of powered people have appeared: the "Ultras" (that's the way to name them, because words as "Super-hero" and "Mutant" are property of Marvel and DC). Characters, places and events were defined, and the rol Science and Magic had in the brand new Universe was established. Finally a 200 page book was made, and there's the Ultraverse history and the origin of each character; this book will be a guide to any scriptwriter to keep the Ultraverse's consistence.
When characters were definied, a group of cartoonists (Barry Windsor-Smith, Adam Hughes, Walt Simonson, Howard Chaykin,...) were in charge of design each hero or villain's look... and I think they did a good job, because they give an atractive look to the most of them (a curious fact is that almost all the characters have gold decoration in their costumes... Why? hey, don't ask me this!... I'm only a telepathic being, but not an fortuneteller :-) )
Finally in June 1993 15 series appeared: Exiles, Firearm, Freex, Hardcase, Mantra, The Night Man, Prime, Prototype, Rune, Sludge, Solitaire, The Solution, The Strangers, Warstrike and Wrath. In December 1993 the first saga was born:: "Break-Thru", a story where act all the Ultraverse characters. It was thought since 1992, so each series prepared the plots six monts before the saga which revealed the origin of the Ultras' powers. In 1995 a new serie was added to the list: Ultraforce (drawn by... ¡George Perez!), a team making an important rol as Ultras' police.
Malibu Comics considers very important the cartoonists. Some of them are well-known: Barry Windsor-Smith, Norm Breyfogle, Kevin McGuire, Jeff Johnson and the above menctioned George Perez. Some others make a name for themselves here: Ben Herrera, Terry Doddson, Scott Benefiel...
On November the 4th, 1994, Marvel Comics bought Malibu Comics company. Since then plans for crossovers between the two universes were made: the "Godwheel" saga. Some Marvel characters have moved to the Ultraverse, as Loki (one of the Vadhalla Gods, Thor's brother) and the Black Knight (an Avengers' member). Some other, as Thor, the Avengers or Silver Surfer have been the first one to appear at the Ultraverse.
There are some rumours saying Marvel and Ultraverse's Universes will be join in a unique universe, but I have no enought info.
The Ultrahuman habilities' origin is a damaged spaceship that was near the Earth 60 million years ago and launched a device which crashed into the Moon. The space ship crashed into the Earth, spreading machines as little as bacterium: the Nanotechnology, which infected and transformed some humans, who become the first Ultras.
In the 5th Century A.C. the Archmage and Boneyard, brothers and amazing sorcerers, started a war today is still running. The evil Boneyard's Knights are immortal by means of their chief's magic, and Archmage's one let his Knights to reincarnate in a new body each time they die. In one of the last battles the Archmage and his Knights were defeated, but the soul of Lukasz (the bravest Archmage's warrior) was transported to Present into a female body to become one of the most powerfull Ultraverse sorcerers: Mantra.
But the time lots of Ultras appeared was the Present. Thursday, 8:45 AM: a strange lightning appears in San Francisco's sky and falls down on Powell Street's streetcar and alters all the 59 passengers (some of them gathered together an become the Strangers). The street car exploded, an a shrapnel piece thrusted in a passer-by's head, Johnny Domino, and destroyed the sleep zone of his brain. Johnny reailized he didn't need to sleep any more, and he was able to see at dark as well as we can see at daylight, and become the Night Man. An actor named Tom Hawke was in a casting when an strange lightning felt down on him, giving him Ultrapowers, so he become the Hardcase. These misterious lightnings (which have an effect in much more characters) were all made by the device the spaceship menctioned above launched to the Moon.
Some other Ultras, as Prime (a 12 years-old boy named Kevin Green able to convert his body to a strong flying man) have a different origin for their powers (It's possible their genes were altered by a secret project of USA government when they were babies), and some other as Prototype or Solitaire have powers by means of mechanical implants into their bodies.
